I find the multiplier method simpler and less pretentious so for this example, I would be talking to you about a 5x ROI.

How do I know what digital marketing agency is right for my business?
There are bucket loads of digital marketing agencies out there! Prior to me starting my own agency, I enlisted a digital marketing agency to help me grow my business. What I found is there are 3 types of agencies:

What is involved in web design and development?
There are a few things that go into web design and development. Do I have to maintain and make changes to my website?
Normally no. It is rare to have to make structural or design changes to your site. The aspects that do need constant love and attention is the content and SEO. You do not need to be a website developer to do this, you just need to know what to do and have the time to invest into. We can show you how to do local SEO and what to do, or we can do it for you ๐
How long does it take to rank a website?
There are a number of variables that could impact the time it takes for a website to rank with. In some cases it can take up to 6 months to start ranking favourably on the search engines. Google’s bots and algorithms need to digest your site and content so it can spit it out in the correct position based on its experience, authority and trustworthiness versus the competitors in your space.
The good news for small businesses is that more times than not, you will notice some traffic and ranking in the 1 to 3 month range. The reason for this is unfortunately a large percentage of small businesses don’t do digital marketing well with poor or no websites, minimal SEO and underwhelming marketing campaigns ๐ While this is a sad reality, it is good for you because you can sweep in to the top of the rankings and be perceived by your customers as an expert in your field ๐
What is the best marketing for small business?
It really depends on the type of business you have! But what we see more often than not is many small businesses put all their eggs in one basket which can open them up to risk and volatility. Examples of this:
- Advertising solely on Facebook and then the Facebook algorithm changes ๐
- Advertising solely on radio which really only has impact when people are commuting to and from work. The work from home shift, quarterly school holidays and increased popularity of streaming services makes this less and less effective ๐

What we recommend is to have a diversified marketing strategy. This varies based on the type of business but the rule of thumb is to put 15-20% of revenue back into marketing. Here are some ways to diversify your small business marketing strategy and minimise volatility and risk:

SEO vs SEM?
SEO is short for โsearch engine optimization” and SEM stands for “Search Engine Marketing”.
SEO focuses on organically ranking your site favourably on Google by ensuring your content is of a high quality and everything is technically set up well.
SEM focuses on ranking your site favourably on Google by running paid ads. To keep it simple, you pretty much bid for keywords and each time someone clicks on your ad, you pay Google. Eg – you bid for the keyword ‘Electrician Hervey Bay’ and every time someone searches for that your site will appear favourably on Google with the ‘ad’ icon next to it. The cost per click (CPC) might be $10 so every time someone clicks on your ad, you have to pay Google $10.
What’s better SEO or SEM? ๐ค
SEM will give you more traffic sooner however it comes at a price. SEO takes months to get traction however it gives you a superior return on investment. We recommend doing both – SEM to target the customers who are ready to buy and SEO to target the customers who are in research mode. We find customers form trust and brand loyalty from SEO which results in ongoing brand loyalty ๐ค
